This book is more than just a golf history book as it thoroughly explores the development of the Monterey Peninsula area. Being a golf fan I was certainly more interested in that aspect but was pleasantly surprised at the content which explored the cultural origins of the area. From the famed Del Monte hotel, and other area courses, to the events held at Pebble Beach Golf Links this book will give you a true appreciation for the rich history beyond the PGA tour. Whether it was amateur golf events, course architects or Bing Crosby the reader will enjoy the variety of topics and rare photographs of this historic area. Golf fans will certainly love the content but for anyone with an interest in history this would be an enjoyable reference. This book is perfect to display on a table and flip through again and again as the reader cannot help but learn something new each time
